OMG again…. Creating this Platform game was very tough on me! I must admit that I enjoyed the creativeness it allowed though. The difference in creating this game versus the Scrolling game was the fact that it was much simpler to create rooms. Creating rooms for my Platform game involved using tile sets, blocks and STUPID COORDINATES! But I understood that the tile sets allowed us to be more original and that they took patience to use. My game turned out to be pretty good. I decided to call it “Annie’s Adventure”, in which my character Annie has to collect objects to reach her Granny so they may make cookies.

For my Senior-Final Project I chose do to a Platform style game. I chose this because for a previous assignment I actually enjoyed creating the game. I feel I deserve an A+ for my work because I did all the requirements wanted for the game. Also, even though I was in a rush (because of time) to complete the game I still put lots of effort into the game. This was a very fun and exciting course. I feel as though I learned lots of stuff that could possibly help me in the future. Some stuff like using the coordinates in rooms and having to be creative all the time is something I will use again. If there was another student about to take this class and it’s the first day I would advise them to use there time affectively!!!!! I would also say pay attention and to not get on Ms. Porter’s nerve as much as the class of 2010 did!!!

Top 5 Platform games

To be totally honest, before this class (Game Design) I was actually dead to the "game world". I never really played video games before but now its kinda cool. So for my assignment of choosing 5 of the top Platform games I decided to ofcourse choose the ever famous "Super Mario Bros". I believe this game is an all time classic! This is the type of game you tell your children about, its very cool and with all the levels its a bit challenging.

I also selected another classic, thats right "Final Fantasy X4" originally created in 1991. This is a cool game and its a game that in my opinion has made history along with "Mario Bros". I wanted to keep it trendy to by the way, so I choose "Fairly OddParents: Guts 'n' Glory". This game is extremely fun, and is exciting from begining to end. Another is "Go Diego Go: Rain Forest Adventure", I chose it because my little cousin owns this game! He cant stop playing it and he's literally addicted at the of 7. The game is fun, easy enough for a younger child, and the platforms used are absolutely cool (they match the rain forest theme). My final choice was a little something for the spongebob lovers! The game is called "Obstacle Odyssey 2" and its an easy game to play, with familiar characters, and fast action.

Who knew creating a simple scroll game involved so much math!!! OH MY GEEZ... This week in Game Design we were challenge with the assignment of making our very own Scroll game. When I first thought of "scroll game" I thought this should be fun an easy. Well it was absolutely fun but easy.. Hmm I wouldn’t say so. Creating the game and trying to allow my sprite to move involved me creating coordinates. (Sounds simple right??) Tricky thing though, Y-axis coordinates are negative at the top instead of the bottom! So now you understand where I’m coming from huh!!! But all in all, the game was fun to make, and I’m actually excited that I got through it.

Assignment 2

Oh my gosh... The process in making this game was absolutely tough, and long! I didnt know it would be as complicated as it was but I must say that Web Design was easier. In the steps of making this game I had to re-create one simple wall over and over again. Then I had to surf the internet for the perfect sprite that would complete my game. I decided a Baker would be a good choice, then I decided to have the Baker collect items (berries and meat). I think one of the hardest parts though, was creating events to match the actions of my character. I had to decide what I wanted my character to do with the touch of one button. But all in all I finished and with the help of Ms. Porter my game turned out good.

It took a very long and fustrating week!!! But finally I am done creating my game. I decided to start simple, so I designed a game in which the player has to catch microphones that are moving up an down at the speed of 4.5 seconds. My game is music based so I chose a stage for my background and an very popular Destiny Child's song for the background music. The game is really fun and actually it was exiciting to make. With my example game as a guide, my game was made very easily!!! I call it "Catch the mic's" .
